Live Theatre in Hill County TX

Lake Whitney Arts Association

It’s 1,613 miles from Hillsboro Texas to the bright lights of Broadway. Luckily Hill County has its own little slice of Broadway just twelve miles away in Whitney. Lake Whitney Arts Association is a non-equity non-profit performing arts theatre that has been producing quality plays and musicals for nearly 20 years.

Founded in 2004 by a small group of theatre veterans, Lake Whitney Arts has since staged more than 90 shows in their 80-seat facility. LWA produces old standards from Broadway like STEEL MAGNOLIAS, GODSPELL, and THE ODD COUPLE, as well as lesser-known shows like THE SUGAR BEAN SISTERS and HAT TRICKS. The current LWA production team boasts a combined century of experience, and recent contributors include film and award-nominated actors and award-nominated designers.

In addition to stage productions, Lake Whitney Arts hosts Open Mic Talent Night once a quarter, and a Murder Mystery Theatre two or three times per year. Check out the calendar on their website at LakeWhitneyArts.org for all upcoming show and event dates! Ticket prices range from $5 to $35, depending on the event.

Hill College Players

The Hill College Players are an ensemble made up of students and faculty from across a wide variety of disciplines.  The Players have a long history of producing quality theatre enjoyed by Hill College and the surrounding communities. They produce four shows a year, including a student showcase.

From well-known shows such as MISERY and HAMLET, to lesser known shows for kids, such as THE TROLLS WHO STOLE THE NORTH POLE, these quality student-run productions are certainly worth the admission price. General admission tickets are $5, and Hill College students get in free.
