Historic City Hall – 127/129 East Franklin
Now City Hall; this location on 127/129 Franklin in Hillsboro once housed our Police and Fire Station.
The Hillsboro Fire Department was organized in 1883 and at the time, thier equipment consisted of a hook and ladder wagon with 36 leather buckets pulled by men. The late 1800’s saw the east and south side of downtown destroyed by fires, and in the early 1900’s the Fire Department began utilizing motorized euipment.
The footprint of the building has remained consistent throughout history, though there were renovations in the 50’s and again in 2007.
Today, City Hall hosts city council meetings, special community shows, Heritage League meetings, and is a rentable venue for public and private events.
